Passport, Visa and ID Capture
The Plustek SecureScan X50 provides a stable, full size scanning surface for open passport books and card sized identification. Its maximum scanning area is approximately 5 × 3.74 inches, allowing it to capture common ICAO travel document formats as well as driver licenses and identification cards.
Place the open passport with its photo and data page facing the scanning surface for image and available MRZ data capture.
Capture supported visas and machine readable travel documents used during international guest registration.
Scan compatible identification cards one side at a time and turn the card over when both sides are required.
Simple Automatic Scanning
Dual automatic detection sensors help employees begin a scan quickly, with no scanner button required.
- Open the passport to the photo and data page, or place the identification card flat on the scanning surface.
- The X50 detects the document and captures a full color image in approximately one second.
- Guest Ban reads available document details, machine readable zone information or supported barcode data.
- For an identification card, turn the card over and scan again when both front and back images are required.
- Review the captured details and any enabled Guest Ban alerts.
- Transfer the available guest information into the supported hotel system.
Fast MRZ and Guest Data Capture
The X50 can capture the visual inspection zone and machine readable zone found on supported passports and travel documents. Guest Ban uses available document information to reduce manual typing and create a more consistent registration process.
Guest information that may be populated:
- Guest name
- Date of birth
- Nationality
- Passport, driver license or ID number
- Issuing country or state
- Document expiration date
- Address when available on the document
- Other supported identity fields
Available fields vary by document type, issuing authority, Guest Ban plan and system configuration.
Clear Visible Light Imaging
The Plustek X50 uses a white LED light source and a 5 megapixel CMOS image sensor to produce 24 bit color images for data capture, visual review and record retention.
The 5 megapixel fixed focus camera records clear document images without requiring manual focus adjustments.
Visible illumination captures the standard color document image used for data extraction and employee review.
A full passport data page can be captured in approximately one second to help keep the front desk moving.
Stable and Easy to Use
The X50 measures approximately 7.87 inches wide and 7.87 inches deep. It is approximately 4.69 inches high without its cover and 7.48 inches high with the cover. At approximately 3.78 pounds, its full size base provides a stable surface for passport books and identification documents.
The scanner connects to a compatible Windows computer through USB 2.0 and receives power through the USB connection. Automatic document detection and fixed focus imaging help reduce employee training and make the unit practical for front desks with multiple shifts.
